Help us gather information on plastic impacts in our marine environment
DID YOU KNOW ?
More than 60% of sea turtles ingest fragments of plastic bags…
- Plastic litter is omnipresent and endangers animals that ingest it or get entangled in it, sometimes dying directly, or gradually losing their strength to eat or protect themselves.
- INDICIT II project has shown that more than 60% of sea turtles, and up to 100% locally, ingest fragments of plastic bags, packaging, hard items, textile or fishing items! The entanglement in plastic is harder to assess because animals are not often found. However, many observers have posted photos or videos on the internet, which is valuable information for understanding the types of litter in cause and the impacts on individuals’ health.
